Entering its fifth successful year MIFF announces an open call for all Canadian films. May 15, 2012 is the Late Deadline for consideration in this year’s festival, running July 25-29, 2012. Submit now for consideration as an official selection to this growing Canadian festival and get the benefit of low entry fees.

***Films must be submitted online by May 15, 2012. For consideration in the festival, film screeners must arrive at MIFF no later than May 31, 2012 12:01am***

G-Technology Best Feature Winner "Feature Presentation" Co-Directors Dan & Mike Palermo

On the final night of MIFF2011, the winners in all five every categories were announced in front of a live audience at the AMC 24 Theatre that had been home to the festival all week long. And the winners are…

Best Short Film:	"Distilled Love"
Best Web Series:	"Making Funny Stuff"
Best Animated Film:	"Tales from the Afternow"
Best Documentary:	"Hell Drivers"
Best Feature Film:	"Feature Presentation"

The races were all close this year, and when the judging forms we tallied up, we had winners by as slim a margin as 2%, and so well-earned honourable mention goes to runners up in each category:

It’s hard to believe we’re only days away from announcing the Official Selection for the fourth annual Mississauga Independent Film Festival.

In a few short years MIFF has become recognized by IMDB, had upwards of 40% of selected films go on to see distribution, made front page news, been on local, regional and national television and radio, plus this year MIFF makes the big move to the beautiful AMC theatres at Winston Churchill & the QEW.

To say I’m proud of what this team has accomplished for Canadian cinema in such a short time would be an understatement.

But there’s lots more ahead, and MIFF2011 is going to be the biggest season yet with a killer Kevin Spacey film opening the festival this year and over 30 of Canada’s most incredible writers, directors and producers participating, you can be sure you’ll get the most immersive and engaging movie-going experience you can find anywhere.

AMC Welcomes MIFF!

Helping to make MIFF’s 2011 year even bigger than ever is a brand new venue for the festival; starting this year, MIFF’s new home is the gorgeous AMC 24 Theatres at Winston Churchill and the Queen Elizabeth Way.

With ample parking, a fantastic locale, lots of great restaurants plus huge screens with beautiful plush seating, this particular AMC is more than an entertainment complex: it’s been supporting independent movies and niche film for years now and this July 20th-24th, it’ll be the place to be for filmmakers and cinephiles to gather as we make the 2011 Mississauga Independent Film Festival the best one yet!
